TGIF

Another week come and gone. Another Friday, another weekend. This week was better than the last but still brought with it some challenges. However, with every challenge came a new discovery, a new perspective, and a new sense of calm.

Randy and I are both overwhelmed with work stuff right now in addition to all that is going on here at home and next weekend my father-in-law and his wife are visiting from Missouri. So this weekend will be spent tearing up our bathroom (yes, you heard me) and remodeling it. I know, it sounds crazy, but Randy swears this is the only weekend it will get done. This ought to be fun! Thankfully he knows what he's doing when it comes to stuff like that but that's not to say it will go smoothly...projects like this usually tend to have glitches. I think he's actually looking forward to doing some manual labor and get away from his computer for a couple of days.

Right now Kaylee and I are waiting for our crusin' buddies, Vanessa and her mom Thao to get here so we can hang out and go out to dinner. They are going on the cruise with us this summer. Vanessa and Kaylee have become such good friends this year and she's really one of the sweetest girls we know. Other than Kylie Brooks, Vanessa is K's best friend.

The weather here this weekend is not going to be so nice. They are predicting temps in the low 40's! I wish I was headed south this Spring but no such luck! I'm just going to have to wait until June to get my sun!

Well, I think I'm going to take a little cat nap while I'm waiting for our friends.

Will post this weekend to update you on project bathroom. Can't wait...

Cleaning house

It's Spring here in the great Northwest and time to renew. Yesterday's temperatures reached 80! We didn't know what to do, what to think...it was awesome!

But there's something about Spring that makes us want to clean up. Clean up the yard, clean out the house, and even clean up relationships. This year, Spring Cleaning has a whole new meaning for me. I've had to clear out the cobwebs, open up the doors and windows and let the new light shine into my life. It's refreshing and leaves me with a newfound energy...it's kind of like being in a new relationship. You know how that feels? Exciting, nerve-racking, happy...that's how I'm feeling today.

Speaking of cleaning house, Kaylee's dance studio, Groove Nation Dance Academy, cleaned up yesterday!!! There are three performance teams at GN. There's the high school team, the middle school team and K's team who are in elementary school. Here are the scores for all the teams:

Remix (high school): Platinum award. Highest scoring senior group. Highest score overall in the senior division. Most entertaining group. Best choreography (Beau Sem and Marc Roy).

BoomBox (middle school): Platinum award. Highest scoring teen group. Highest score overall in the teen category (BTW-this means that out of any teen group, duo, trio or solo, their scores were the highest). AND highest score overall (meaning any and all entries). These kids really rocked the house!! They also got some specialty awards.

Kontrolled Kaos (elementary): Platinum award. Highest scoring junior group. First place winner in the highest scoring overall in the junior category. Music Video award. Most entertaining.

It was so fun yesterday being a part of this awesome studio where all the teams showed up to support the other teams. We were the loudest in the house and the most proud. Your talking about a competition where there are ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical dancers and we're strictly hip-hop. To be recognized and honored amongst all of these genres is really incredible. Especially since most dance competition judges aren't really familiar or have never judged hip-hop.

So needless to say, we're very proud of Kaylee and the accomplishments she's attained by being in this performance group. It's really cool to see these young kids really shine and show their talents! I almost wish I had video from yesterday instead of the first one because their performance yesterday was definitely sharper, cleaner and more exciting to watch! Don't know why except that the whole studio was there to watch which made us, the audience, REALLY loud in cheering them on. I think that makes a difference to them when they're performing.

Anyway, I'll stop gushing. It's time for me to go clean some more!

Later...
