Although the Great NW is now my home, there are times when I miss California. When summer turns to fall and the warmth of the sun is replaced by the cold, damp rain; that's when I wish I was in CA. In fact today it's supposed to reach 88 degrees in Cali. Whereas here, we might top out at 65. A big difference!
These days, I consider it a blessing when I can do any kind of traveling since everything from gas to airline tickets to food has gone up in price, making it harder and harder to take trips without putting one in debt! But, as luck would have it, I'm able to travel down to my home state and visit Megan, my dad & brother, some aunts and uncles and lots of friends! And I'm really looking forward to it!
It seems I've been going down there every October, at least for the past three years. And every October there seems to be a wildfire or two getting out of control. This year is no different. Because of the Santa Ana winds, most of SoCal has been on fire! These fierce, high powered winds are what brings the warm air in but because of the dry agriculture surrounding SoCal due to lack of rain, it's just a matter of time or the stupid act of idiots that spark a firestorm. I think by the time we (Kaylee and I) arrive, most of these fires will be contained but it's sad and a bit surreal every time we go down there in October and face these (sometimes) natural disasters.
I haven't been down there since February and I'm really looking forward to visiting my old friends from work, my aunt who has been going through chemotherapy these past 6 months, my dad and brother and In-n-Out Hamburgers! I've been watching what I eat and exercising just so I can justify having at least one cheeseburger, fries and their famous chocolate milkshakes! MMMMMM.....
Kaylee is excited too! She hasn't been down since last October and she can't wait to see her peeps! Linda, Grammy, Carmel, Megan's friends: Danielle, Riley and Cindy, Megan of course and Grandpa. She's also looking forward to a cheeseburger or two and some California sunshine!
After we return, it will practically be November and then Christmas! Holy cow, where did the time go? Summer just went by so quickly and now we're already facing a new year with a new President and hopefully some good changes!
It's hard to believe we're here again. It sucks that time passes so quickly. Planning something a year in advance feels like planning ahead for only a month. In two months, Randy and I will be traveling to Az., then Mexico and before you know it, Kara will be graduating, Kaylee will be in middle school and Megan will be a junior in high school.
Ahhhhhh!!! Somebody stop the clocks Please!!!
Well, time is not on my side today either. I've only a few hours to get a week's worth of work done! So off I go!
See you in Cali!
