Well, we're back from the big Taormina Family reunion. We had so much fun! It was wonderful seeing family members I haven't seen in over 10 years! My baby cousins are now in their 20's and 30's! It's really weird seeing kids you've babysat drinking vino or pregnant! But the most important thing for me was that my girls met this big, loud, wonderful family and hopefully, they will keep in contact with them; especially when the two remaining siblings (Mary & Joe) of the Taormina clan are no longer with us.
It was typical Italian fare at the reunion. Uncle Joe sharing stories of his grandfather and father, cracking jokes about everyone. Aunt Mary interrupting and correcting him and, for the most part, being the butt of his jokes. The two of them had the whole room in stitches over their banter! Oh how I miss those days. The only thing missing was Mom's lasagna or spaghetti, some Italian cookies and of course, mom. She would've had so much fun.
Over the years our individual families have grown apart for various reasons but when we're all together, we forgot about the distance and the time spent apart and for one day, it was like those 10 years never passed.
Of course, Randy got some fantastic footage of the event. Both in video and stills. He had his camera in every one's face! But my family loves him! He could keep up with the best of this Italian crew and believe me, it's not easy! And he really enjoyed my cousins. They got along really well so hopefully we'll stay in better touch now that we've been reunited!
Well, now it's time to prepare for the next vacation! Florida baby! Yeah! The girls and I can't wait. 12 days in the hot sun. I may be tan now, but wait until I get back from the Bahamas! Oh yeah!
Well, it's time to go. I'll try to get some photos of our trip to Cali.
Until then...peace out!
